Re-Engineering Security at Sydney's MET Centre
A major security upgrade at Sydney's MET Centre has brought together access control, video surveillance and alarm management within a unified security environment.
As reported by SEN News, the upgrade at 60 Margaret Street in Sydney combined Inner Range Integriti, Hanwha Wisenet surveillance and Genetec Security Center as part of a broader security and infrastructure refresh. Completed by Micron Group, the project modernised the building's security systems while allowing normal operations to continue throughout the transition.
A Large-Scale Upgrade in a Live Environment
The MET Centre is a busy commercial property supporting office tenants, visitors, retailers, contractors, loading facilities, parking and building services.
According to the SEN News report, the project extended beyond replacing cameras and access control hardware. The upgrade included surveillance, access control, alarm management, networking infrastructure, fibre communications, structured cabling, server infrastructure and resilient power systems.
Integrating Access Control, Alarms and Video
The upgrade was completed while the building remained fully operational.
Within the upgraded environment, Integriti provides access control, intrusion monitoring and alarm management across the property, managing readers, doors, gates, locking hardware and security inputs throughout the building.
As highlighted in the SEN News article, the high-level integration between Integriti and Genetec allows access control events, alarms and video surveillance to work together within a unified workflow. Rather than moving between separate systems, operators can view access activity alongside associated video, providing greater context when responding to incidents and alarms.
Delivering the Upgrade Without Disruption
Maintaining building operations throughout the upgrade required a staged migration strategy.
According to SEN News, a significant amount of server configuration, licensing and programming was completed before major field deployments began. New infrastructure was progressively introduced while existing systems remained operational, allowing cameras, access-controlled doors and supporting systems to be migrated in stages.
This approach reduced operational risk and allowed the building to continue functioning throughout the upgrade process.
