Digitel
Digitel is one of the largest telecommunications providers in the extreme heat and humidity of the Philippines. They wanted to implement a facilities management system across 350 of their cell sites integrating alarm monitoring, SMS alarm reporting, and air-Conditioning monitoring and control.
The IR Control Module monitors several inputs on each site including door reed, air-conditioning failure, temperature, water seepage, fire, and DC power supply failure. Alarms can be sent as text messages to nominated GSM mobile phones via the FE3000 GSM/IP Engine.
Equally, the FE3000 accepts commands from GSM phones to control the system and send a confirmation text message back via SMS. Additionally, alarms are also monitored on Digitel’s telemetry system using an Inner Range 8-way Relay Board. Not only does the IR Control Module monitor the status of the air-conditioning units, it switches between units in the case of failure and will operate both units when a high temperature alarm is detected, or alternatively switch both units off if a low temperature alarm is detected.
The combination of monitoring, control and flexible communications paths delivers a powerful solution in a highly distributed environment whilst operating reliably in some of the most inhospitable environmental conditions.
